Continuing our theme of becoming a new creation in Christ, the junior class looked at the story of Zacchaeus. You can read about it here.
Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector. After meeting Jesus, he promised to give half of his money to the poor and to pay back four times the amount if he had cheated anyone out of anything.
We listened to a song about Zacchaeus. You can listen here.
We made models of Zacchaeus in the tree as our craft activity.
Today, we looked at the story of Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3:1-21.
We often say that as Christians, we are 'born again'. Jesus told Nicodemus that he needed to be born again to see the kingdom of God.
We talked about what it meant to be 'born again' and we will spend some more time talking about this next week.
Our text for the next three weeks is 2 Corinthians 5:17:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!
(New International Version - UK)
We watched a video of the song, 'Bullfrogs and Butterflies' by Barry McGuire. You can watch this here.
We talked about how tadpoles and caterpillars change completely during their lifetimes to become frogs and butterflies.
If we follow Jesus, He can make us like completely new people. We may not look very different on the outside, but we can change a lot on the inside as we become more like Jesus.
As a craft activity, we made butterflies with paper and paint to remind us of our text:
Just a small group of us this week. We spent some time catching up on holiday news and talked about our New Year Resolutions. We made door hangers to remind us of the things we wanted to achieve this year.
We had a family service in the sanctuary this week, and the children performed their nativity play, 'No Room in the Inn'.
No Sunday School now until 4th January 2015.
This Sunday was spent rehearsing for our nativity play, 'No Room in the Inn', written by Labake Fakunle.
